The Durability of Relationships

So five years on it’s come to this, Martha reflects. The microwave bleeps, the washing machine sings a little electronic ditty and even the tumble dryer lets her know how things are going.  But Mark? Nothing.  Not a word.  It’s only her consumer durables that keep her up to speed.
