Deleted Scenes from a Life Unlived

Ah, so that’s where we never sat.  Look, there’s that wine you didn’t order.  And there’s the slender hand you never tabled, ungrasped.  Presumably those must be the words I never used to convey my habit of slipping unnoticed through key moments of my own life.  Why I couldn’t say.

  1. Thanks – if you’re interested, there’s a masterpiece of a story by Alice Munro called The Peace of Utrecht about two sisters that is a genius example of this. I think she herself describes it as a breakthrough story for her. It is truly great. Anyway, thanks for your eloquent and kind comment – much appreciated, Nick
