“Ah no, he’ll not bite you,” the dog’s owner said. “He’s such an old softie. He’s more likely to lick you to death.”
Albert remained unconvinced. He looked at the dog. And the dog looked at Albert.
“Go on!” the owner said. “Give him a pat! He’s ever so friendly.”
But when Albert tentatively reached out his hand the dog immediately bit him, drawing blood.
“I am so sorry,” the dog’s owner said, ordering his dog away. “He’s never done that before. Never!”
“Well,” Albert said sadly, examining the small cut on this hand, “he’s never met me before either.”
