The boy nobody is trying to find

There he is, playing with all the other children in the playground.  What’s the problem?  I don’t see any problem here.

Really?  Look more closely.  Watch him running up into the girls’ faces. They’ve no idea what he’s trying to achieve.  He’s frightening them, not playing with them.

And now look.  Look how he’s spotted other children playing hide and seek.  So now he’s trying to join in.  He’s gone off to hide.  But here’s the thing.  Here’s the big thing.  He didn’t explain he was joining in.  So there’s absolutely nobody looking for him.

So please, just look again. Could you do that for me?  And you’re still saying everything’s fine?

  1. A boy in our community died from a school shooting. He was six. So this hits me very hard. All the things in the world that would be different if someone just looked again..and saw.
